Jack's First Birthday

Jack's first birthday was actually friday. I picked him up at daycare on thursday afternoon a little early because he had a slight fever. We took him to the doctors on Friday morning and they said it probably a cold or it could be teething. We gave him Motrin and spent the rest of the day at home cleaning in preparation for Saturday. We planned on staying home on friday anyway.


We invited everyone over Saturday for a celebration with burgers and hot dogs and cupcakes. The family arrived about noon and we spent some time just hanging out. I got some squirt guns, so me and the nieces played outside and started the grill.

Joe and Lisa came and brought Joe Jr. and new arrival Beckett, Reet and Jim brought GG, Bill and Theresa brought the nieces and Randy and Theresa stopped by. They are getting married next week and we are in the wedding party.

Jack loves his chair! We got it in the mail last week, but wanted to wait until his birthday to open it for him. I unwrapped it Friday morning and he jump on and sat down. It sits right next to a big person chair in the living room.

He also likes Bozo, the punching clown. A memory of my childhood that Mom got Jack.

Bill and Theresa gave us this bike that has a handle on it so we can let Jack ride. We tried it out for a test run and he really liked to ride it. I took a quick movie of him being pushed by Meghan. Thanks Bill & Theresa!

Bills Birthday Bash

After the Fair, we headed over to Bill and Theresa's for Bill's Birthday. The food was good (burgers and dogs fixed by Bill) and the cake was excellent. I will get the same cake for Kate's birthday in a few weeks. I spent some time with the nieces and Jack was showered with attention from all directions. The girls like to play with him and show him new stuff.

They got him in the swing and we let him ride that for a few minutes. He seemed to like it, or at least tolerate it. He looked down as the ground moved by below his feet and was mesmerized by that movement.

He also rode a tricycle that Theresa and Bill gave us. It has a big handle on the back so you can steer it. He liked that a lot and liked to be pushed around the court and down the driveway. The girls liked pushing the bike, too and took very good care of him. They are really nice kids, not a mean bone in their bodies.

Chewy the Camel, Billygoats and the Mullet-Boy

I worked the Fair on saturday at our booth (The Library) and was joined by Kate and Jack after my shift was over. We got a chance to spend some quality family time just taking in the sights. Te Fair provided prime people-watching opportunities and we took full advantage. While we were at the food court, we spotted a kid with a killer mullet. These days you just don't see that many mullets anymore, or beepers, or 8-track tapes.

We got some food and sat for awhile in the shade to get away from that sun for a spell and decided it was time to go cause we had plans for later in the day. The Fair was fun and I got some good pictures of the animals in the petting zoo, too.

Welcome to the World - Beckett!

Kate, Jack and I went to the hospital on Sunday to see Lisa and the new arrival, Beckett. Joe was at home no doubt recovering and getting as much rest as he can get.

In the meanwhile, we snapped a few pictures of the bundle of joy.
