Fourth of July Parade

Val and Barb came over to join us for the parade downtown, so we set out and found a place to sit and watch, along with about 8,000 others. We sat just about one row back, but people constantly shifted and after a few minutes we had a view that was undisturbed.

There were firetrucks, color guards, little motor cars and horses, balloons, bands and politicians. The hogettes were there (ugh) along with the Washington Redskins Marching Band as well. I was really impressed with the National Firemens Association, part of the AFL-CIO, which had a few hundred firemen in their dress blues show up and march. The whole parade lasted about two hours.

Afterward, we went to Noodle, a few blocks away and had lunch and then stopped by Starbucks to get Kate and Val a cool latte.

Jack had a great time and even caught a short thirty minute nap in the middle of the parade and then woke up and was good for the rest of the time. It was a little hot, but did very good in the heat and we were sure to keep him hydrated.

Sunday is Funday

Mom (GG) sent a blow up pool thing that hooks up to a hose and sprays water and has fountains and all kinds of stuff. Anyway, we decided to take it out on Sunday since the weather was fantastic and warm. We also filled up the play pool that blows up and see if he would also take a dip.

His other Grandma (and Papu) got him a rocking mini-adorondack chair, so we put that together and he liked to rock in it. Now he has a favorite chair for inside and one for outside.

We dressed him up in his new water-sneakers and swimming trunks, slathered him with SPF 200 and filled up the pool with water. I tried to coax him into the pool but he wasn't having much to do with it, he got in up to his arm, but the water was cold.

We also let him play in the mini water park that GG got him, but he would only get close to it. He likes the idea of water, but somewhere between his elbow and his shoulder the idea becomes a bad idea. I don't get it, but then again, I'm not Jack.

Taitum

Our friend Kate's sister was at the graduation celebration and it was the first time we got to meet her. She has a little girl named Taitum who is adorable. Taitum walked up to us and just started talking like we knew her all her life. She has a tiny little voice and was very entertaining. She asked a lot of questions and liked to play with my camera, so we took a few pictures.

Grad Party

Last Saturday we were invited to Kate S. and Julie's Graduation celebration. It was really a co-celebration since Kate and Julie went to different schools and got different degrees. Either way, they both deserved to mark the occasion with a soire.

The party was at Kate S's condo (the party room) downstairs by the pool. The pool was closed, but there was the other kind of pool and foosball and five LCD TVs. Niiiice. Any place that has five LCD TVs showing five different shows is OK with me. Needless to say, my Kate may have been the one drinking that night, but I was the one that had a good time. I offered to pay for the next party so we could go back to that wonderous place with five LCD TVs.
